Ministers Welcome

A warm welcome from our minister…

Danny 2016 FebMarch 2016

Welcome to Mount Charles Methodist Church.

“It is always sad to say goodbye to a colleague, especially when they are ‘promoted to Glory’. The Revd F. Joan Watson had served the St Austell Circuit well since 2011, and this church at Mount Charles for the last 6 months … until her untimely death at the hospice where she served as chaplain for the last 4 years.

‘Letting go and taking up’ … was my theme in the evening service here on the 6th March. My reflection came from Exodus chapter 2, where Moses’ mother, Jochebed, for his own safety and a chance to survive, had to let her son go in a basket on the Nile, only to take him back, now adopted by the Pharaoh’s daughter, as his wet-nurse. Letting go as a mother to take up as a wet-nurse, same but different, and both survived to fulfil God’s purposes. The circuit and this church may have to do things differently … the Gospel is still the same, and some projects will go on bearing fruit, but some things may need to let go of only to take up newer challenges for the future. Excited? I am.

Therefore, to bring some comfort and encouragement to you all, as your current Superintendent, letting go of that responsibility in September, I have made the decision to take up, to ‘assume the mantle’, of being your Pastoral Minister for the foreseeable future … as Apostle Paul wrote in the 2nd epistle to the Corinthian Church Chapter 1:3-7, “the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.’ (NIV) … sounds a bit long winded, but the purpose being that as I am comforted I may comfort you as you then continue the ministry of comfort to others who come to Mount Charles Chapel.

So I pray that as we journey together, whether you come often or occasionally; as a member or a visitor, you’ll always find a warm welcome here, to find comfort in one form or another, and encouragement to engage in life with Christ, and live life to the full.

Pray for me as I’ll pray for you.”

Blessings, Danny <’{{{><
